The Commonwealth Scholarship is now open for applications. In this article, we will provide complete details about the scholarship, its financial coverage, and the step-by-step application procedure.
The Commonwealth Scholarship 2025-2026 is a fully funded master’s and PhD program for outstanding international students. The award includes full university tuition fees, a monthly stipend of £1,378, round-trip economy airfare to the UK, and additional allowances to support essential living and study-related expenses.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom administers this scholarship scheme on behalf of the UK government, aligning it with key international development priorities. Operating under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), it demonstrates the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth. By selecting highly talented individuals from diverse backgrounds and preparing them to return as leaders, innovators, and change-makers, CSC advances sustainable development while promoting UK national interests and fostering global partnerships.
In addition, the Commonwealth PhD Scholarships are specifically offered to candidates from least-developed and fragile states, as classified by the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC), within the Commonwealth. These prestigious awards enable scholars to pursue full-time doctoral research at recognized universities across the United Kingdom.
Through this program, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission contributes to global knowledge, empowers scholars to drive progress in their home countries, and nurtures leadership for future generations. It strengthens sustainable development goals, enhances innovation, and builds partnerships that reinforce the UK’s role as a key supporter of education and collaboration across the Commonwealth.
Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.
Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Commonwealth PhD scholarships contribute to the development needs of Commonwealth countries by supporting research that will have a developmental impact. They also enhance individual teaching and research capacity leading to increased institutional capacity in academic and other sectors in Commonwealth countries, and will contribute to UK higher education and research by attracting high-calibre international applicants and encouraging links and collaboration, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.
